Gas Gas knows no limits: since it was acquired by Pierer Mobility AG, the Austrian group has turned its wrist firmly on the accelerator to create a pool of products that would gather the consensus of a wide public, in fact going to exploit all the know-how of the years spent with Ktm and Husqvarna making it available to Spanish motorcycles. Thus were born enduro (2 and 4T) and motocross (2, 4T and even electric versions with the small MC-E 5 for children), in addition to the Trial range and the development of the e-bike sector, without forgetting the commitment in Moto3. What Gas Gas had never done before is to launch into the “non-competitive” world, with a product designed for fun on the track and / or off-road, but not specialized. Here, that day has come.

Gas Gas ES and SM 700: how they are made

Taking as its starting point Ktm 690 Enduro R, Husqvarna 701 Enduro and their respective sisters with non-knobbly tires, Gas Gas reaches the general public with technologically advanced products that take advantage of a platform known and consolidated over the years. It is, in fact, the first step towards opening up to the public considered less sectorial, less niche, proposing as a first step a fun, agile and manageable product, powerful and reactive yes but at the same time easy to use. Green light therefore to the chromium-molybdenum steel trellis frame combined with the die-cast aluminum swingarm and the 13.5-liter tank integrated in the polyamide rear subframe.

Gas Gas ES and SM 700: the engine

Always from the know-how developed and kept over the years by experience with Ktm first and then Husqvarna, comes the Euro 5 approved engine capable of unleashing 74 Hp of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and a torque in the order of 73 Nm at 6,500 rpm The ductility of the 692 cc single-cylinder engine allows for varied use, from walking on mountain passes to tackling hundreds of km off-road at a fast pace. Valuable driving aid is the gearbox (6 gears) with quickshifter, for quick and precise changes. Parallel to it, there are the Bosch Abs system, different riding modes and the Pasc slipper clutch, for spectacular cornering entries.

Gas Gas ES and SM 700: livery and price

From an aesthetic point of view, the new Gas Gas ES and SM 700 closely resemble, at least as far as airbrushing is concerned, the specialist EC and MC, albeit with different plastics to adapt to the frame structure of the motorcycles. As always, the catalog dedicated to customizations and clothing is extensive, while the motorcycles will arrive at the official Gas Gas dealers in May at a base price of 11,850 euros ex-dealer.
