Two Dutchmen arrested in Marseille, one injured | Inland

The man had to be treated in hospital. One of the Dutch people has been arrested for possessing a baton, reports the Rotterdam police who assist their colleagues in Marseille.

Wednesday evening was restless with all kinds of small disturbances. The massive police presence had to intervene several times to keep rioters apart. A fan zone was set up on the beach of Prado for Feyenoord supporters on Thursday. It opens at 10:00 am. The French police think that this way they can separate supporters of both clubs. It is the intention that fans of the club from Rotterdam will be transported later in the day by shuttle buses to Stade Vélodrome, where the game starts at 9 p.m. Thousands of agents have been released for that transport.

Not all Feyenoord supporters plan to go to the fan zone. A supporters group called frfc1908 wants to watch the match in the Vieux Port (Old Port) in the tourist center of Marseille. They also want to hold a march to the stadium from there, according to an appeal to their almost 45,000 followers on Instagram. It is not clear whether the police will allow a march.

Feyenoord has sold 3245 tickets for the match against Marseille. The French police fear that 1500 to 2000 Dutch fans will come to the south of France without a ticket. Feyenoord can reach a European final after twenty years. The team of trainer Arne Slot defeated Olympique Marseille 3-2 in De Kuip last week.

The final of the Conference League is on May 25 in Tirana.
