Flute talent from all the wind corners of the world came to Grolloo this week to become even better at whistling. This for the tenth edition of the Grolloo Flute Sessions. The entire village contributes to a pleasant stay of the participants, including Margriet and Jan Sijbring.

“Another host family said we have two daughters for this week. It’s a bit of a crazy comment, but that’s how it feels. It feels very good,” says Jan Sijbring. For the fourth year in a row, flutists come to them.

The guests this year are the London Belle Brunson (20 years old) and Kendra Barron (19 years old). For both, it is the first abroad to whistle. “Grolloo is a very hospitable village, I feel very welcome. I think it’s great that everyone hey says when they meet each other on the street. You don’t have that in London, “says Barron.

Brunson is looking forward to what the week has to offer: “I hope to learn more about myself and my playing style to hopefully get better. And of course to bring the perspectives of other participants.”

“We also find it every year. It is really wonderful to do,” says Sijbring. Although it is only a week, he and his wife sometimes have long -term contacts.

The flautists themselves have a pretty intensive program. They do breakfast with the whole group and then they continue to different master classes during the day.

Sijbring: “The girls like to have breakfast with the group, but I also liked it here. Anyway, we all adjust ourselves in it, that’s no problem.”
