TVM remains in Hoogeveen and builds a new head office close to the railway

Insurer TVM will remain in Hoogeveen and will build a new head office near the station. The company previously also focused on a possible move to Zwolle, but that plan has been scrapped.

The company conducted research and states that Hoogeveen remains attractive for employees from the northern provinces. “This is also evident from inquiries among our staff,” says spokesperson Eric Drent.

According to the insurer, Hoogeveen and the location near the station offer many advantages. Public transport and sufficient space for parking in particular play a role. The office will be located at the station square and should open in 2028.

The municipality has also previously indicated that it will invest heavily in the station area. For example, it should be more connected to the city center, there will be more homes and there will be room for offices.

“That makes this place attractive for TVM, also for the longer term,” the spokesperson continues. “A lot of activity and a station close to the new office. It’s a nice place.”

In 2019, the company was already considering moving to Zwolle. According to TVM, it would be easier to find qualified personnel there. Ultimately it did not work out and the company remained in Hoogeveen.

One of the reasons for staying was the arrival of the IT hub. That is the blocky blue building near the railway, where students and the business community come into contact with each other.

The building at the train station should ensure that highly educated IT professionals remain in the region. The insurer could benefit from this.

Previously, it was also examined whether the current building on Van Limburg Stirumstraat in Hoogeveen could be renovated. That doesn’t seem to be an option anymore. The new building at the station must be completely energy neutral.

The insurer will say goodbye to the current building on Van Limburg Stirumstraat in Hoogeveen before 2030. Previously, it was examined whether the building could be renovated, but that did not seem feasible.
