Turnhout city region adopts Walloon village Prayon for reconstruction after a flood: “If you experience such a disaster yourself, don’t you hope for help too?”

Before long, the inhabitants of the flooded Prayon will be able to gather again in the cafeteria of the sports hall. The beating heart of the municipality was two and a half meters under water last summer, but thanks to hundreds of volunteers, municipal staff and entrepreneurs from the Turnhout metropolitan region – about 120 kilometers north-west – everything will be fine again. Under the motto ‘1 Village, 1000 Hands’, the people of Kempen ‘adopted’ the sub-municipality of Trooz. A unique form of well-organized solidarity that is now even being imitated. A report on the spot.
