The Turkish volleyball players are European champions for the first time. The world number ones defeated world champions Serbia in a close final in Brussels 3:2 (25:27, 25:21, 22:25, 25:22, 15:13). The outstanding player in the Nations League winner was Melissa Vargas with 41 points.
The Netherlands had previously secured the bronze medal. The team coached by German Felix Koslowski beat defending champions Italy 3-0 (25-23, 28-26, 25-20). The 39-year-old, who is also a coach at the volleyball Bundesliga club SSC Palmberg Schwerin, has been in charge of the Dutch women since the beginning of the year.
