After just one season, promoted turbine Potsdam is back in the second class. That is determined after 19 defeats.
The descent of the former German champion Turbine Potsdam from the Women’s Bundesliga is sealed. The Brandenburg women lost 1: 3 (0: 1) in the Karl-Liebknecht Stadium against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday evening and can no longer reach the saving eleventh place with only one point from 20 games.
Delice Boboy (26th minute), Cornelia Kramer (61./Foulelfmeter) and Karolina Lea Vilhjalmsdottir (89th) met for the Rhinelanders. Potsdam acted two thirds of the game after Maya Hahn (31st) had seen the yellow-red card because of repeated foul play. Shortly before the end, Viktoria Schwalm (90th) scored the honor goal. The Leverkusen team of coach Roberto Pätzold kept the chance to participate in two outstanding match days.
Potsdam had already relegated as the bottom of the table in the 20222/23 season. In 2024 the direct return was achieved. This season, the team did not present itself to Kurt Russ after a coaching change from Marco Gebhardt Russ Russ. The only point win was made 1-1 against co -promoter Carl Zeiss Jena last November. The catastrophic goal difference of the club is 5:65.
Potsdam was one of the most successful women’s clubs in Europe for many years. In 2005 Turbine won the UEFA Cup, followed by the Champions League title in 2010. National, the association dominated under coaching legend Bernd Schröder with six championship titles in the GDR and six others in the Bundesliga. Three DFB Cup victories complete the track record.
