Tundra and Gladiators win groups at ESL One Stockholm

Tundra Esports and Gaimin Gladiators won their respective groups at ESL One Stockholm. Both group wins go to teams from Western Europe and with German players in the line-up.

Erik “tOfu” Engel and Leon “Nine” Kirilin already have reason to celebrate in the group stage of the Stockholm Major. The two Germans were able to convince with Gladiators and Tundra and are going into the playoffs, which start on Tuesday, from the best position. Tundra Esports in particular impressed fans, losing just one game over the course of the group stage.

The Western European teams generally did very well in the group stage, with all but one team from the region making it to the upper bracket of the playoffs through good group stage placements. Only Team Liquid was placed in the lower bracket after a series of tiebreakers, where the team could be eliminated after just one game loss.

Eliminated Evil Geniuses early

Evil Geniuses was the only team eliminated in the groups. The winners of the North American Dota Pro Circuit started the tournament with two losses on day one and only improved slightly over the next three days. The Russian team Mind Games in Group B was disqualified due to visa problems.

The playoffs start on May 17th. The final three days of the knockout stages will be played in front of an audience in Stockholm.
