In search of a new defender, TSG Hoffenheim suffered several setbacks, but it still found it shortly before the transfer. Leo Østigård (25) changes from the French first division club Rennes to the Kraichgau, he is loaned until the end of the season. For him it is a return to Germany, in the 2019/20 season he played for FC St. Pauli in the 2nd Bundesliga.

The list of Hoffenheim transfer goals for the defensive was getting longer. It originally looked like Stefan Posch (27) was going back from FC Bologna to TSG, but for him it was surprisingly at Atalanta Bergamo. Marvin Friedrich (29) was considered an alternative on the home stretch, but Borussia Mönchengladbach is said to have blocked. And at the end there was also talk of a new but unsuccessful advance around Feyenoord’s Gernot Trauner (32), with whom Hoffenheim is said to have dealt for a long time.

Østigård only switched from SSC Naples to Rennes last summer for 7 million euros. Since then he has had 18 games in which he was allowed to go 16 times from the start. Rennes, however, put him in front of his nose with Anthony Rouault (23; Stuttgart) and Lilian Brassier (25; Brest) with higher market values - 10 million euros.
