After qualifying for the Europa League, TSG Hoffenheim has extended the contract with coach Christian Ilzer. The Kraichgauers did not say how long the 48-year-old would now be tied for, only wrote about a long-term signature – probably until 2031. The Austrian finished fifth in the Bundesliga with 1899 and scored 61 points, which is the second best result in Hoffenheim’s young Bundesliga history after 2016/17 under Julian Nagelsmann.
In total, there have been 65 games and a points average of 1.4 since his arrival in November 2024. In addition, the squad value increased by 62.7 percent under him: from 166.15 million to 270.25 million euros.
“Chris Ilzer has done an outstanding job and taken our team to a new level in terms of sport. Chris stands for a clear idea of football, for high intensity and a modern management culture. He brings great quality, passion and competence. He and his team have made TSG into a top 6 club in Germany and at the same time developed numerous talents and generated market values. That’s why we are very pleased to continue our common path in the long term,” said Managing Director Sport Andreas Schicker.

Ilzer explained: “The club offers excellent conditions and pursues ambitious goals. The most recent season has shown that the path we have chosen is the right one and that we can achieve a lot together with consistent work. We want to continue on this successful path and continue to show this TSG face. I am already looking forward to the new challenges of the coming season, including the return to Europe.”
