The White House has taken a break from the Iran war and runaway inflation, to celebrate Drake’s “Iceman” with a social media post aimed at outrage.
On the official White House account, the Trump administration shared an image that parodies the “Iceman” cover: a diamond-encrusted glove holds an equally elaborately decorated chain with the words MAGA. “ICED OUT,” wrote the White House.
The post was another attempt at cultural relevance – a practice that the White House regularly engages in: hits or artists of the moment are reinterpreted in a MAGA sense, often to the annoyance of the musicians concerned. Late last year, the White House used clips of Sabrina Carpenter to promote ICE’s agenda. When her song “Juno” appeared in one of these ICE videos, Carpenter responded unequivocally: “This video is evil and disgusting. Never use me or my music to further your inhumane agenda.”

In a similar video, the White House and the Department of Homeland Security posted footage of ICE raids and arrests – set to Olivia Rodrigo’s song “All-American Bitch.” Rodrigo responded on Instagram: “Never use my songs to spread your racist, hateful propaganda.”
Drake, who comes from Canada – the country that Trump famously wants to declare the “51st state” – has not yet commented on the White House’s post.
Trump himself seems to have taken little notice of Drake and the rapper dispute of the past few years – including the beef with Kendrick Lamar. When asked who won the Lamar-Drake conflict, Trump replied: “I have no idea.”
