In it, he also reiterated his support for Nasry Asfura, the candidate of the conservative National Party in the presidential elections in Honduras this weekend and a party colleague of Hernández. Trump warned that the US will no longer send financial aid to the Central American country if Asfura does not win the elections.

The 67-year-old Asfura, a construction magnate and former mayor of the Honduran capital Tegucigalpa, will face a left-wing lawyer and a right-wing TV presenter on Sunday.
Hernández served as president from 2014 to 2022 and was extradited to the US a few weeks after the end of his term.
