US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin talked on the phone on Tuesday, along with other things.
Known as a passionate ice hockey person, Putin had suggested that Russian and US national teams should play hockey match, which would face the best NHL players in the country and the best Russian-driven KHL players.
According to the Kremlin announcement, Trump had been sympathetic to the proposal.
Now the NHL has also taken part in the presidential ballot and discussion – albeit carefully.
NHL insider supplier Chris Johnston shared a picture of a bulletin published by the NHL in the message service X.
– We have just heard about the debate of President Trump and President Putin. Of course, we were not involved in that debate, which is why we would not be appropriate to comment at this stage, the bulletin stated.
According to Reuters, the leaders of their countries discussed at least Ukraine, the Middle East and energy issues.
Russia has been closed to international hockey ever since it started a full -length war in Ukraine in February 2022.
The International Ice Hockey Association IIHF confirmed that Belarus, which supports Russia and Russia in the war, will not be seen at least next winter at the Winter Olympics.
