John Wayne Gacy Jr. is one of the most notorious serial killers in American criminal history. Gacy killed at least 33 boys and young men between 1972 and 1976 and traded their bodies under the floor and on the grounds of his Chicago home. He became known under the name Killer Clown because he lured his later victims to him in a clown costume. He is also in the Guinness Book of World Records: in 1980, Gacy was sentenced to life imprisonment 21 times and the death penalty 12 times. In 1994 he was executed at Stateville Correctional Center.

In the trailer, we hear Gacy himself say, “What I tell you is what I know as fact. I’m a power person. I enjoy power. Nobody else had the guts to pull off what I pulled off. I outsmarted you again.” The three-part docuseries will feature new interviews with “key people” around Gacy, including a testimony from a survivor.

Here the trailer:

The documentary, titled Conversations with a Killer: The John Wayne Gacy Tapes, is scheduled to stream on Netflix on April 20, 2022. Its director, Joe Berlinger, previously directed the true-crime documentary Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes.

John Wayne Gacy Jr. made his way into pop culture in 2005, among others. Back then, songwriter Sufjan Stevens wrote the song “John Wayne Gacy Jr” for his state album ILLINOIS.
