A car and a truck crashed on Friday afternoon on the A59 near Engelen. Due to the collision, the diesel tank of the truck broke. More than 200 liters of diesel is on the highway. This makes the road towards Den Bosch completely closed.
After the collision, the car was driven against the crash barrier on the left side of the highway. The truck came to a halt a little further on the emergency lane. The diesel from the leaking tank ended up on both the road and the roadside.
There are several emergency services available. The man who was in the car is checked by ambulance personnel. The driver of the truck has been released with a fright.
Detour
The road is completely closed for storage and cleaning up the diesel. Rijkswaterstaat therefore advises to ride from the Hooipolder junction via the A27, A15 and the A2. It is still unknown when the highway is open again.
