Remembering Lauren Bennett: A Star Gone Too Soon

The music world mourns the untimely loss of Lauren Bennett, beloved singer from the girl groups Paradiso Girls and G.R.L. Known for her powerful vocals on LMFAO’s global hit “Party Rock Anthem” in 2011, Lauren passed away at the age of 37. The sad news was shared by her former G.R.L. bandmates on Instagram.

“Our hearts are broken, and we can’t express how much she meant to us,” Natasha Slayton, Emmalyn Estrada, and Paula van Oppen stated in their heartfelt tribute. “We will cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us forever. Her wonderful spirit touched so many lives; she will be dearly missed and forever loved.” The cause of death was not disclosed.

A Journey from “X Factor” to Stardom

Lauren Bennett was born in Meopham, Kent, England, where she showcased her talent through local competitions from an early age. Her big break came when she auditioned for the newly-formed group Paradiso Girls, impressing music moguls Jimmy Iovine and Robin Antin. At just 17, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams.

In 2009, Paradiso Girls released their debut single “Patron Tequila” featuring Eve and Lil’ Jon, reaching number three on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. Following this success came “Who’s My Bitch,” but the group disbanded just a year later.

Antin later brought Bennett into a new lineup intended to replace former members of the Pussycat Dolls. This project evolved into G.R.L., which contributed the song “Vacation” to the soundtrack for “The Smurfs 2.” They also collaborated with Pitbull on the hit “Wild Wild Love” in 2014, while their most notable success, “Ugly Heart,” captured the hearts of fans worldwide.

G.R.L.’s Evolution and Challenges

After the tragic death of bandmate Simone Battle in 2014, G.R.L. temporarily disbanded. However, in 2016, Bennett joined her bandmates to reform G.R.L. as a trio. They continued to tour and tease new music, indicating their undeniable resilience and commitment to their fans.

Lauren Bennett’s impact on pop music and her fans will be remembered long after her passing. Her radiant spirit and unforgettable performances brought joy to many, and she will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew her and her music.
