Status: 06/16/2022 7:18 p.m

In the trial against the former president of the world football association FIFA, Joseph Blatter, and Michel Platini, former president of the European association UEFA, FIFA has demanded the repayment of the approximately 2.2 million francs (2.1 million euros) that Platini received were transferred.

FIFA is “fraudulently deceived” defender Catherine Hohl-Chirazi said on Thursday (June 16, 2022) in her plea before the Federal Criminal Court in Bellinzona

No reference to “deposit”

In the contract between Platini and FIFA there is no indication that the CHF 300,000 paid to him was a “Down payment” had been and the former UEFA boss should actually receive one million francs a year for his consulting work. Hohl-Chirazi explained that the payment had not been ratified either. FIFA is not to blame.

The day before, the Swiss federal prosecutor’s office had demanded a suspended prison sentence of one year and eight months for both Blatter and Platini. Platini should also pay a fine of around 2.2 million francs (around 2.1 million euros). Both have to answer for allegations of fraud and other crimes, they reject all allegations. The verdict is expected on July 8th.
