In Uccle, Brussels, a tree fell on a train near the Uccle-Stalle station on Wednesday evening. No one was injured, but train traffic on line 124 was completely stopped. The Brussels fire brigade confirms this. The almost 500 travelers were all evacuated in the meantime.

The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. According to emergency services, approximately 490 passengers were on board the train when the tree fell on the train. In addition to the fire brigade, the emergency medical services, Marlow police zone and railway services also arrived en masse. “The overhead lines were probably also hit,” says Walter Derieuw, spokesman for the Brussels fire brigade. “That is why the power was cut off and train traffic on line 124 had to be stopped.”
Replacement bushings
For safety reasons, the passengers could not be immediately removed from the train. First, the installations had to be earthed so that the evacuation could take place safely. One carriage was located close to a platform, which facilitated the evacuation of the train. The emergency services announced a preventive medical pre-alarm system, although it ultimately turned out that no one was injured. Replacement buses will be deployed for stranded travelers to continue their journey. It is not yet clear how long the disruption on the railway will continue. “It is now up to Infrabel’s technical staff, who are on site, to assess the damage to the overhead lines and remove the tree,” said Frederik Petit of Infrabel.
