The tree blocking a brand new car wash in Eindhoven is being removed. The municipality of Eindhoven informed Omroep Brabant of this on Wednesday afternoon. Still no car can fit into the newly built wash box. “We will move it on Thursday,” a spokesperson promises.
It is a small tree, but with a huge impact. The brand new laundry box is completely ready and the paving was already there. A lamppost had also already been moved. Only that one devilish tree ensures that one of the three laundry boxes is completely blocked. But that is going to change quickly.
“Really? I am super happy and very relieved!”, says entrepreneur Henri Lanters. He hears the news from Omroep Brabant. “I haven’t normally had many reactions. It’s very funny how it went.”
Paperwork
The municipality of Eindhoven is now providing more explanation about how this could happen. The devil is in missing paperwork. It appears that no so-called ‘exit permit’ has been applied for, the municipality says. “The exact location of the exit was therefore not clear,” says a spokesperson. However, the entrepreneur says that the permit has been applied for and obtained.
And that wasn’t all. “The initiator’s drawings also did not show a tree, which means that this tree was not taken into account during the work to realize the car wash and remove other municipal greenery.”
Special tree
To make matters worse, it was also a compensation tree. This tree must make up for another, previously felled tree. So felling was not possible. That is why it is being moved to a lawn on Baronielaan.
The municipality promises improvement. “It is very annoying that the entrepreneur had to wait so long for clarity,” says the spokesperson. “We will improve the process surrounding municipal trees in relation to permit applications.”
