As of January 1, 2025, all Treant hospitals will be completely smoke-free. This concerns the buildings and the parking and surrounding areas of the hospitals in Emmen, Hoogeveen and Stadskanaal.
The new policy applies to everyone and to any form of smoking. Employees and patients can follow training to quit smoking.
As the largest healthcare provider in the region, Treant wants to be an example when it comes to a healthy lifestyle. Smoking does not fit in with that.
In the National Prevention Agreement, healthcare organizations previously agreed to implement an active policy to combat smoking in society.
The Wilhelmina Hospital Assen has been completely smoke-free since November 16 last year.
