Tre Valli Varesine, Giulio Ciccone in hospital after a bad fall

The best climber of the Tour wearing a Lidl-Trek jersey will be subjected to tests: he violently hit his pelvis after falling downhill

Giulio Ciccone was aiming hard for the Giro di Lombardia on Saturday, but today at the Tre Valli Varesine the Lidl-Trek rider from Abruzzo fell on the descent from Montello, during the ninth lap, and violently hit his pelvis. Immediately assisted by the medical staff following the race, he was taken to the Circolo hospital in Varese. He suffered a strong blow to his hip and is undergoing all x-ray tests. His team writes: “Ciccone was involved in an accident and had to abandon the race. As a precaution he will undergo a medical check-up in hospital to evaluate the bruises sustained.” The pain was very strong, but Giulio got up and even walked before being taken over by the doctors.
