The accident took place on Nieuweweg around 1:45 p.m. Several ambulances and an air ambulance were called. It is still unclear exactly how the accident could have happened.
According to bystanders, the cyclist was shocked by a passing horse and fell hard as a result. However, the police have not been able to confirm this.
The cyclist was eventually taken to hospital by ambulance with unknown injuries.
