FC Barcelona have also signed Andreas Christensen a few hours after signing the Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessié.

The Dane last played for Thomas Tuchel’s coach Chelsea FC in the English premier league and will receive a contract with the Catalans until June 30, 2026, as the club announced.

According to the club, Christensen’s new working paper should contain an exit clause of 500 million euros. The centre-back, who was loaned to Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach between 2015 and 2017, is set to be unveiled on July 7th.

Barca hope for stars

Barcelona had previously officially announced Kessié’s move. The 25-year-old professional is moving from Italian soccer champions AC Milan on a free transfer and will sign a contract on July 6 until June 30, 2026. A transfer clause of 500 million euros should also be included in his contract, it said.

Kessié and Christensen are Barça’s first reinforcements of the summer. The Catalans, who are in debt with 1.35 billion euros, have recently opened up several sources of income. Club boss Joan Laporta hopes to use the money to bring in several stars, including Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski, Leeds United striker Raphinha and Bernardo Silva Manchester City and defender Jules Koundé from FC Seville.
