For the second time in history, the Bundesliga cracked the billion mark in the income, which was synonymous with the departure of numerous well-known professionals. This had an impact on the squad values in the upper house: FC Bayern has significantly removed from the competition in the ranking despite a marginal plus. The big winners are mainly after the activities on the Deadline Day of Hamburger SV and Werder Bremen.
Four of the five most expensive transfers this summer were Bundesliga exports. Florian Wirtz moved from Leverkusen to Liverpool for 125 million euros, as well as Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitiké, for which 95 million euros were due. In addition, Newcastle United paid EUR 85 million for Nick Woltemade to VfB Stuttgart and Manchester United 76.5 million euros for Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko. The Bundesliga has taken a total of 1.03 billion euros and spent 856 million euros. In the case of the income, this is historically the second highest value, and has never been invested in summer.
With a transfer balance of 171 million euros, the Bundesliga has generated a plus as one of two top 5 leagues. The Ligue 1 generated a surplus of EUR 338 million from player sales, while the Premier League (-1.51 billion), Serie A (-84 million) and Laliga (-47 million) have a negative balance.
Bundesliga cadre values: FC Bayern hurried to the competition
According to the transfers by Luis Díaz (Liverpool), Nicolas Jackson (Chelsea), Jonathan Tah (Leverkusen) and Tom Bischof (Hoffenheim) as well as departures from Mathys Tel, João Palhinha (both Tottenham), Kingsley Coman (al-Nassr) and Leroy Sané (Galatasaray) of FC Bayern in the comparison period between June 15 and September 2 from 903 million to 907 million euros. This is not a big change, but the record champion clearly distanced himself from the competition, which recorded a clear minus.
Bayer Leverkusen hit it particularly hard. Last season, the runner -up was the second most valuable team in the Bundesliga with a squad value of 567 million euros. After a large upheaval with 17 departures for 230 million euros and 17 entrances for 198 million euros, the Werkelf has a squad value minus 31.3 percent to EUR 390 million. With Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong (Liverpool), Piero Hincapié (Arsenal) and Victor Boniface (Werder Bremen), four of the five most valuable professionals were given.
A similar fate has happened RB Leipzig, which lost its three most valuable professionals with Sesko, Xavi Simons (Tottenham) and Loïs Openda (Juve). The squad value of the Saxons was reduced according to expenses of EUR 136 million and income from EUR 160 million to EUR 341 million – a minus of 27.8 percent. This continues to take fourth place in the Bundesliga comparison.
Borussia Dortmund recorded a minus of 40 million euros, nevertheless overtook Bayer Leverkusen and is now the most valuable team after FC Bayern with 438 million euros. With the VfB Stuttgart (-8.5 %), Eintracht Frankfurt (-7.9 %), Freiburg (-11.3 %), Mainz (-11.8 %), Heidenheim (-15.1 %) and St. Pauli (-20.5 %), a total of nine Bundesliga clubs went down.
Thanks to the deadline-day drama: HSV & Werder the big winners
A lot has happened on the Deadline Day, especially with the two north clubs Hamburger SV and Werder Bremen. With the Arsenal duo Albert Sambi Lokonga and Fábio Vieira, the climber presented two of his three most valuable players. Vieira is rated at EUR 22 million, at Lokonga it is 8 million euros. The week before, Luka Vuskovic came on a loan from Tottenham, which is estimated at 12 million euros. In the transfer phase, the HSV was more than doubled its squad value: from EUR 52.3 million in mid -June, 108 million euros in early September.
The most surprising coup succeeded but Werder Bremen on Deadline Day. The green-whites were able to fill the vacuum in the storm center with the loan of Bayer Leverkusens Victor Boniface. With a market value of 40 million euros, the Nigerian is the most valuable Bremener in history and replaces Milot Rashica, which was rated 35 million euros in December 2019. In addition, two other players with a double -digit market value came with Samuel Mbangula (Juve) and Yukinari Sugawara (Southampton), so that it went to 182 million euros in terms of squad value – an increase of 42.7 percent. Although the transfer window is closed, Cameron Puertas from Al-Qadsiah could follow another newcomer that the Bremeners on the Deadline Day have bagged. Then Horst Steffen’s assessment would increase to the record of 195 million euros.
