Midfielder Casemiro joins Manchester United from Real Madrid. The 30-year-old is said to have signed a four-year contract.

English football record champions Manchester United have signed Brazilian midfield star Casemiro from Champions League winners Real Madrid. Both clubs confirmed an agreement on Friday evening.

According to media reports, the transfer fee should be up to 70 million euros. The 30-year-old is said to be on a four-year deal until 2026 plus a club option to extend. United did not initially provide any information on this either.

Ten Haag had called for reinforcements

Team manager Erik ten Hag had pushed for reinforcements after the false start. After two opening defeats, United are bottom of the Premier League with zero points and 1-6 goals – for the first time since the league was founded in 1992.

Casemiro won three Spanish championships and five Champions League triumphs with Real during his nine years at Madrid. Together with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, he has been the midfield axis at Royal for years.

Respect from Real coach Carlo Ancelotti

“The players understand. The whole of Real Madrid has a lot of respect for him. If Casemiro is looking for a new challenge, we have to understand him. On a personal level I’m not happy, but respect prevails.”said Casemiro’s former Real coach Carlo Ancelotti during a match day press conference.
