FC Volendam has strengthened itself just before the transfer deadline has passed. According to de Telegraph Xavier Mbuyamba comes over from Chelsea. The defender has signed a three-year contract with an option for another year.
The 20-year-old Mbuyamba is the desired defender that technical director Jasper van Leeuwen and trainer Wim Jonk were eagerly looking for. Mbuyamba is a right central defender who can also play on the left.
The talented Mbuyamba was born in Maastricht and was trained by MVV. There he earned a transfer to the FC Barcelona youth academy, where he played only one year. Mbuyamba then made the lucrative switch to Chelsea, England. He was under contract in London until 2023. Mbuyamba played 33 games for Chelsea Under 21, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
Mbuyamba is the fourth addition to FC Volendam after Henk Veerman, Carel Eiting and Diego Gustavo. This Saturday, Mbuyamba can already participate with his new employer. FC Volendam will then visit Sparta.
