Three days after the transfer window closed in Germany, FC Bayern announced another departure. A defense star is leaving the club for Türkiye.
At FC Bayern, almost everything during the winter transfer period revolved around possible contract extensions. On Thursday, three days after Deadline Day, the Munich team announced another change to their professional squad: full-back Sacha Boey will be loaned out to Galatasaray Istanbul with immediate effect.
The defensive player will play for the traditional Turkish club until the end of the season, for whom he played before his time in Munich. From summer 2021 to January 2024, Boey played on the Bosporus before Bayern signed him for 30 million euros. The Frenchman subsequently made 38 competitive appearances, but did not live up to expectations.
“Sacha knows Galatasaray very well from his time before he moved to us and will not need a long time to get used to familiar surroundings,” Bayern sports director Max Eberl is quoted as saying in the Munich press release. “He can collect minutes of action at the highest level in the Champions League play-offs against Juventus and in the title fight of the Turkish Süper Lig, which will be very good for his development.”
It is questionable whether the Frenchman still has a future in Munich after that. According to information from Sky, Bayern have given Galatasaray a purchase option. This should be 15 million euros. The German record champions also receive a loan fee of 500,000 euros.
