Trains are honking all night through Heiloo due to a malfunction at transitions

Due to a malfunction at various level crossings in Heiloo, the barriers no longer go up. That is why the NS trains that have to pass there drive through the village honking. According to ProRail, this will continue until midnight.

The malfunction occurred around 2.30 pm at four transitions in Heiloo. A ProRail spokesperson says that the railway barriers there will no longer be raised. “The trains run at an adjusted speed and honk to warn people that they are coming.”

“There is a fault in the track that we can only solve tonight,” the spokesperson explains. “Then the track has cooled down enough to carry out the repair.” This means that the trains will run through the village honking until the end of the train service, around midnight, the spokesman said.

No influence on timetable

“We are in contact with the police to keep the nuisance for local residents and road users who have to use the track as low as possible. We regret this situation.” The malfunction has no further impact on the NS timetable.
