Ramona Hofmeister contracted an ankle fracture during training in Zermatt and fails for a long time. The Olympic Winter Games in Italy are in danger.
It can’t go worse: Ramona Hofmeister seriously injured the ankle when a training session in Zermatt in Switzerland. This announced Snowboard Germany. The riceboarder suffered a fracture that should result in a long forced break. It is unclear whether she will be fit for the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo (February 6th to 22nd, 2026).
Ramona Hofmeister: “Yes, that’s a setback”
The severe training fall was a fall, as “every snowboarder happens hundreds of times,” said national coach Paul Marks. Hofmeister himself wants to concentrate solely on becoming healthy as soon as possible. She says: “Yes, this is a setback, but I have accepted the circumstances. Prio one is now healthy, the focus is on the healing and on the body.”
The 29-year-old, who has so far been able to win a silver and two bronze medals at the Olympic Games, sees himself medically in the best hands: “I really have to praise that, I knew myself from second one in safe hands- the direct home transport that was organized, then the quick examination and the general feeling of always in good hands.”
Support from the entire team
Also from the whole team comes support, as the national coach explains: “We will only be able to say how it goes on when the injury has healed. We will see whether it can start this season again. But she has our full support and no matter how the way it looks, we go together.”
