Trainer Wim Jonk, staff and management extend their contract with FC Volendam until 2026

Trainer Wim Jonk, his staff members and the management extend their contracts until the summer of 2026. The club announced this this morning. This step is highly remarkable because the Supervisory Board (RvC) recently indicated that the contracts in their current form should be terminated.

The current board, led by chairman Jan Smit, fully supports the choice to continue with Team Jonk. Two board members have already resigned. The appointment of Keje Molenaar as vice-chairman was blocked by the Supervisory Board, which put the administrative crisis on the street. According to the Supervisory Board, Team Jonk was given too much power.

Yesterday, the Supervisory Board was informed about the contract extensions that have further tightened the situation. A meeting is scheduled for today. The Supervisory Board may decide to dismiss the Board. The question is whether that is realistic. In that case, the chaos is complete, because Team Jonk and the board propagate the same vision.

In addition to Wim Jonk, the contracts of assistant coach Matthias Kohler, Freek de Boer (head of performance) and Michel Hordijk (skills trainer) have been extended until June 30, 2026. Furthermore, technical director Jasper van Leeuwen, director of training and collaborations Ruben Jongkind , business director Frans ten Berge and commercial director Jan-Bas Veltman on board for the same period. There is one change within the board. Treasurer Tom Koning makes way for Corn Veerman.

On Thursday there will be an information evening in which FC Volendam will explain the state of affairs at the football club. The meeting starts at 7:00 PM.
