Trainer Jansen expects more ‘personality’ from AZ against ‘uncompromising’ Feyenoord

“We are going to measure ourselves against one of the better teams in the Eredivisie”, trainer Pascal Jansen kicks off in the preview to the match against Feyenoord. In a packed Kuip, AZ will take on the Rotterdam leader tomorrow evening as number two. “We are looking forward to.”

“I think Feyenoord’s great feature is the team’s intransigence,” says Pascal Jansen in a packed press room at the AZ training complex. “Feyenoord proved that a number of times in recent weeks when they came back from a defeated position.”

Show personality

“In the home game we were not quite ourselves, we have a challenge for tomorrow night.” Earlier this season, AZ lost 1-3 in Alkmaar. Jansen’s team took the lead through Jens Odgaard, but the three points rightly went to Rotterdam. “Now we have expressed to each other that we want to show our own personality much more in De Kuip.”

Battered teams

The difference between Feyenoord and AZ is two points, with a win the Alkmaarders take the lead in the Eredivisie. In that battle, Jansen cannot have access to Bruno Martins Indi, Sam Beukema, Dani de Wit, Maxim Dekker and Zinho Vanheusden. One player does return to the selection after an injury, that is Djordje Mihailovic. Opponent Feyenoord also misses many important forces such as Orkan Kokcü, Justin Bijlow, Gernot Trauner and Sebastian Szymanski. “It’s the reality, but it’s not that it makes me happy that they miss players.”
