Trainer Bouman and DOS’46 split up; Van Gunst finishes season

The club has found Herman van Gunst willing to take on the role of head coach until the end of the season.

Bouman was in his second season in Nijeveen service. In his first season he reached the play-offs of the Korfbal League with DOS’46 1 . Less than a month ago, the board of DOS’46 decided not to extend the current contract with Bouman. At that point, both sides were confident that players and staff would finish the season in the best possible way. In recent weeks, however, it has become clear that there is insufficient basis to proceed in a good way, after which both parties have come to the conclusion that it is better to immediately end the cooperation.

“If I have to step aside, I will do it for the club”

Harmen Tjeerdsma, board member of Topkorfball. “As a board, we regret this decision, all the more because Edwin has committed himself 100 percent to our association from the start. He took office during a turbulent period for us and has taken an important step in the reconstruction of the selection. We are grateful to him for that and he deserves the credit for that, however at this point the conclusion is that he is no longer the person to lead this group to better play and better results and so parting now is the best decision.”

Edwin Bouman: “It is of course a pity that this had to come to this, but at the moment the interests of the club are paramount. If I have to step aside for that, I am happy to do so.”

Herman van Gunst

The board of DOS’46 is pleased that it has found Herman van Gunst willing to finish the season as head coach in this short term. With this, Van Gunst starts his fifth period as head coach of DOS’46, with which he won the Korfbal League in 2006. The clubman knows the tricks of the trade in top korfball anyway, he also worked at Blauw-Wit (A) and Dalto/Klaverblad Verzekeringen during his rich coaching career.

The Technical Committee of DOS’46 is in discussion with a few candidates about the interpretation of the trainership from next season. Communication about this will follow later.

Saturday off to TOP: Will it be championship or relegation pool?

DOS’46 will play the away match against TOP/LITTA on Saturday evening in Sassenheim. DOS’46 has to take at least one point in this last game of the first phase to be able to finish third and thus reach the championship pool. In addition, the red-blacks are still dependent on the result of competitor GG/IJkoud de Beste against leader PKC/Vertom.
