Tragic accident due to deviated rocket? Increasing evidence that Ukraine itself is responsible for rocket strike on Kostjantynivka market | War Ukraine and Russia

LOOK. Ukraine responsible for rocket strike in Kostjantynivka?

Kostjantynivka is located in the north of the Donetsk region and is close to the front line, about thirty kilometers from Bachmut. Ukraine denied on Tuesday that the deadly bombing was the work of its own forces, as ‘The New York Times’ reported.

“According to the data of the investigation, the (Russian) enemy attacked a civilian target using an S-300 launch system,” the Ukrainian security service SBU said in a statement. The hypothesis of a Russian missile is confirmed by “missile fragments” found at the scene of the tragedy, the SBU said. The investigation “will continue” and new expert reports will follow “to clarify the circumstances of this war crime,” it said.

‘The New York Times’ based its reporting on the attack on “testimonies and analyses” of surveillance images and fragments of the projectile. According to the newspaper, the missile that hit the market was fired by the Ukrainian army using a Buk anti-aircraft system towards Russian-controlled territory. It is not clear why the rocket ultimately landed in Kostjantynivka, “but it is possible that the rocket malfunctioned and crashed before reaching its target,” the newspaper wrote.

Meanwhile, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Mikhaylo Podoljak, assured on Tuesday on X, formerly Twitter, that the truth will be legally established. At the same time, he called on people not to forget that “Russia has started the invasion of Ukraine (…) and regularly carries out attacks on civilian targets.”
