Traffic jams and full parking spaces: seaside resorts ask beachgoers not to come by car

The beaches of Zandvoort and Castricum are busy and the parking spaces are full. The municipalities therefore call on people not to come to the coast by car anymore.

“The parking spaces in Zandvoort are now all full. We call on people to all come by public transport,” a spokesperson for the municipality of Zandvoort reports. “The NS is deploying extra trains.” Previously reported the ANWB also traffic jams towards the seaside resort.

The spokesperson is not surprised by the crowds. “There are now some traffic jams because the parking spaces are full, but this is not a unique day.” He says that the municipality has, among other things, deployed traffic controllers and people on the boulevard to manage the crowds in the right direction.

The municipality of Castricum also announces that the parking spaces are full and advises bathers to leave the car and come to the beach in a different way.
