They were supposed to have one more blast this year with a fireworks show in Roosendaal, but due to tightening of the rules regarding consumer fireworks, the performance of fireworks company Vesta will no longer take place. “We were completely ready for it,” said manager Jeffrey Tepe on Monday.

The fireworks show accompanied by music would be held next Saturday at the Oostelijke Havendijk. A law which has been in force since December 1, now ensures that the fireworks that have been used for the show for years can no longer be set off. This includes consumer fireworks in mesh packaging and a certain load of effects.

Ultimately, the team looked for alternatives, but these turned out to be unfeasible. “It was not possible to incorporate replacement products into the show at such short notice,” says a disappointed Tepe.

“For many families it had really become a kind of regular outing.”

“There are so many products that are suddenly no longer allowed to be used, but are needed to create such a fireworks show, that little is possible,” he continues. And according to him, products that were allowed to be used did not play well on music timing. “Sometimes they take too long to go off and that makes for sloppy timing.”

“We kept looking, but it looked too sloppy,” Tepe explains. “We’ve been working on it for months.” Continuing the show in any other way was not an option: “This show would not have been without disappointments and we did not want to have a negative feeling about it, especially not with the last edition.”

“Canceling the show hurts the hearts of the entire team.”

In recent years, the fireworks trade show has grown into a tradition in Roosendaal. Tepe: “For many families it had become a kind of regular outing. People came from all over the country to watch our pyromusical, a show in which fireworks are shot off to the beat of the music.”

Next year there will be a fireworks ban in the Netherlands. Vesta therefore wanted to put on a great show again this year, now that fireworks are still allowed during New Year’s Eve. “We were completely ready to have a blast with all our loyal visitors one last time,” says the organizer. “Canceling the show hurts the hearts of the entire team.”
