Anyone who comes to Trekkertrek in Koudekerk by car on Saturday 6 August will drive for the first time this year via a different route to the parking lot at the event site, at Spanbeton.
“We are very happy with that, because now we can separate the visitors who come by car or bicycle much better. It is simply safer,” says Hans van Leeuwen. He is chairman of the Trekkertrek Foundation. The competitions and the entertainment around it (fair, live music) attract thousands of visitors every year. The last two editions (2020 and 2021) were canceled due to corona.
Cyclists still go from the Hoogewaard via a narrow road towards the meadows behind Spanbeton, according to Van Leeuwen motorists can use a new road that is part of an additionally constructed business park.
The foundation always deploys traffic controllers (including on the Hoogewaard) to keep things as safe as possible. Even in the evening and at night when it is dark.
In 2014 it was announced that the land on which Trekkertrek takes place was for sale and the event was in danger of having to move to another location. This turned out not to be necessary and, according to Van Leeuwen, is no longer an issue for the time being.
