Gateway and Network Management Combined
TP-Link: Omada Fusion Gateway Combines Routing and Controller

Providers on the Topic

TP-Link has introduced the innovative Fusion series: all-in-one appliances that integrate both the Gateway and Omada Controller into a single device. This package is tailored for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), branch offices, and managed service providers that wish to manage multiple locations from a central point.

The Fusion family will serve as the central hub of TP-Link’s Omada ecosystem. Its core promise is simplicity: rather than having a dedicated gateway and separate hardware or software controller, one appliance will suffice. This not only reduces installation effort but also diminishes potential error sources—a crucial aspect for installers and MSPs facing tight budgets.

Kicking off with the Fusion 2.5G, the series is complemented by the Fusion G+ and Fusion 2.5G PoE. The Fusion 2.5G is powered by a quad-core processor with five 2.5-gigabit ports and supports up to four WAN ports featuring load balancing and automatic failover. Integrated IDS/IPS functions enhance the security package, while the VPN throughput is claimed to be up to five times higher than similar devices in its class.

Setup Without a Learning Curve

A standout feature of the Fusion series is the Bluetooth-controlled setup via the Omada app. The system automatically detects all Omada components in the network and adopts them in batch mode. An integrated 2.51-inch touchscreen displays network status, traffic, and diagnostics on-site, eliminating the need for a laptop. Offering flexible mounting options as a desktop, wall, or rack device allows for various deployment scenarios.

Multi-Site Management Without Additional Costs

The Omada Cloud enables centralized management across multiple locations without requiring separate licenses, representing a classic cost advantage for branch offices and MSPs. Administrators can deploy configurations remotely, monitor devices, and troubleshoot issues. Additionally, the new Omada LightLink VPN facilitates remote access to corporate networks via a simple invitation link, usable through an app or browser.

Full-mesh SD-WAN and direct site-to-site connections are designed to effectively interconnect distributed branches, reducing administrative burdens.

Looking Ahead: Integrated Surveillance Cameras

Upcoming series like Fusion Pro and Fusion Max will also centralize the management of VIGI cameras and NVRs. This positions TP-Link as a single-vendor platform for SMEs aiming to control network and security solutions under one roof.
