A plush rabbit whose ears come loose and pose a risk of suffocation, a bicycle helmet with a strap that is not secured or a kettle that can catch fire. These are some examples on the recently launched list of the FPS Economy with recalled and dangerous products. Too often, consumers do not know that a product they own is dangerous, it says.

Every year, products are recalled that may pose health or safety risks. Yet consumers only actually return a very small portion of those products. The reason is simple: many people don’t know they own a product that is under recall.

That is why the FPS Economy is launching a new platform which is entirely dedicated to dangerous product recalls.

“With one click, anyone can check whether a product he or she owns is being recalled and what should be done with it. Toys, electrical appliances, baby items… the categories included are those that families deal with on a daily basis,” said David Clarinval (MR), Federal Minister of Economy.

Each warning contains the essential information to identify the product: photographs, brand, model, batch or serial numbers, a description of the hazard and how the responsible company will reimburse the consumer. Consumers can also subscribe to a weekly newsletter with newly published recalls.
