Tournament in England | Women’s European Championship: Around 370,000 tickets sold in the group phase

More spectators than ever before have followed the games at the 13th European Football Championship for Women in England.

UEFA announced on Tuesday that 369,314 tickets had been sold for the group stage alone. That’s an average of 15,300 in 24 games. It has long been clear that the attendance record for an entire European Championship will be surpassed. The brand stood at 240,055 from 2017 in the Netherlands.

Over 500,000 tickets have already been sold for the European Championships in England. However, the tournament also featured some non-sold out games and sold out matches where some tickets were obviously not used.

The opening match between England and Austria was watched by 68,871 spectators at Manchester’s Old Trafford. The final on July 31 in London is sold out with almost 90,000 fans.

UEFA, as the governing body of European football, also reported record numbers of users on the official website and mobile app. “I’m really looking forward to the knockout rounds where we’ll see fantastic matches. When the trophy is presented to the winning team at Wembley on 31 July we will leave a wonderful legacy,” said the UEFA head of department and former Germany international Nadine Kessler.
