Tour defender Tadej Pogačar is completely unimpressed and wins at the start of the Pyrenees trilogy of its yesterday’s fall. A German amazes everyone.

Tadej Pogačar set a clear exclamation mark on the 112nd Tour de France. The Slovenian won the first Pyrenees stage confidently before the eyes of French President Emmanuel Macron and brought back the yellow jersey.

One day after his fall in Toulouse, the two -time overall winner showed no weakness. On the 180.6 -kilometer mountain stage with a destination in Hautacam, Pogacar gave the competition no chance. With two minutes and ten seconds ahead, he distanced his greatest rival Jonas Vingegaard (Denmark), who finished second.

“I am totally happy that I could make up time and won this increase,” said Pogacar. He didn’t know how his body reacted to the fall. He only felt his hip a bit. For the 26-year-old it was the third stage win on this tour. Irish Ben Healy (EF Education-Easypost), who had worn the yellow jersey in the meantime, lost ground on the ground on the difficult course.

The German Florian Lipowitz, which a real coup, also achieved a real coup, also presented a lot. The driver from Ulm, who competes for the Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe team, showed an impressive performance and finished third.

The 24-year-old seemed to have the better legs compared to Primož Roglič, his team-mate. Almost six kilometers before the finish, Lipowitz then made serious and not only distanced his prominent captain before taking the two top drivers in solo. For the tour debut, there is a place on the podium in griffinable proximity.

“Today was the plan that Primoz and I have both open cards. Everyone was allowed to try something at the last entry,” said Lipowitz in the ARD: “” I took my chance and attacked again and then to the finish full gas. After I drove most of the front, I thought I would try an attack. “It is quite possible that Lipowitz is now the new captain in the team. You want to discuss this internally, he said.

Lipowitz now takes fourth place in the overall ranking. His gap to the leading Pogačar is 5:34 minutes. Vingegaard now has 3:31 minutes behind the defending champion. Remco Evenepoel is in third place (4:45 minutes behind). Already on Friday with the mountain time trial to Peyragudes, the next section is waiting in the Pyrenees – 10.9 kilometers with a demanding profile again.
