Formula 1 was filmed with Netflix’s “Drive to Survive”. Now comes the next sporting event, the Tour de France. There will be several episodes and eight teams will be accompanied before the start.

After Formula 1, now the Tour de France: The streaming service Netflix is dedicating its own documentary series to the next major sporting event. This year’s Tour of France (July 1st to July 24th) will be the starting point of a series that will include eight episodes and will be released in the first half of 2023. This was announced by Netflix and the tour organizer ASO.

The spectator should get an insight into the challenge the tour poses for the drivers, “with a view to the suffering, going to the limits and the team spirit,” said Managing Director Yann Le Moenner from ASO: “This project is part of our plan, to reach an even larger audience with our sport.”

Filming has been going on since March

A total of eight teams will be accompanied in the months before the tour, including the German racing team Bora-hansgrohe with Maximilian Schachmann and Nils Politt.

Filming has been underway since March and will continue until the end of the tour. Netflix is working with public broadcaster France Televisions on the documentary. The series is produced by the joint venture Quadbox, in which the makers of the Formula 1 documentary “Drive to Survive” are also involved.
