Taylor Swift has given the last concerts of her “Eras Tour”. On Sunday (December 8th), the US pop star ended her record tour after almost two years in Vancouver, Canada with three sold-out shows. Also there: her parents Andrea and Scott Swift, whose arms she fell into after the first evening.

Surprise mash-up for her parents

A fan captured the private moment after the show on Friday evening on camera. In the video: The 34-year-old first hugs her mother before including her father in the hug. The singer’s loyal fans, called Swifties, agree in the comments on the clip: That was sweet. “Such a poignant moment. Taylor’s love for her parents is everything,” one user responded. “They both have a great daughter,” said another. Swift’s parents divorced in 2011 after 25 years of marriage, but continued to stick together throughout their daughter’s career.

There are many indications that the celebrated musician also dedicated two serenades to the two of them that evening. Fans online assumed that their idol was performing the surprise mash-up of her songs “Never Grow Up” and “The Best Day” for her family. Because in the lyrics of the two songs she refers to her parents. In the latter she sings, addressed to her mother: “Daddy’s smart and you’re the prettiest lady in the whole wide world”.

Not a husband, but a godfather

Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, quarterback Travis Kelce, was not present at the tour’s conclusion. He had a professional obligation of his own – a Kansas City Chiefs football game. He was also a formative part of the “Eras Tour” – the famous couple officially got together in October 2023, after Kelce tried to give his beloved a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it at one of their shows in the summer.

With the end of her tour, Swift can look back on groundbreaking successes: According to estimates by the trade magazine “Pollstar”, the concert series, which began in March 2023, grossed more than two billion dollars (around 1.9 billion euros). This makes it by far the most commercially successful tour in history. Elton John previously held the record. His farewell tour “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” grossed almost a billion US dollars.

In her gratitude, the global star found a few words for her fans on the final evening in Vancouver before leaving the stage: “This tour was the adventure of my life […]Swift asserted. “We will never forget that you gave us this moment.”
