Tottenham Hotspur have responded to the injury of Guglielmo Vicario (28) and secured the services of Antonín Kinský. According to consistent media reports, the 21-year-old Slavia Prague goalkeeper costs around 16 million euros and has signed until 2031. In the latest market value update from the Czech Chance League, he increased his value from 5 million to 12 million euros – the transfer fee paid by Tottenham shows how great Spurs’ need for action is in this position. His new market value makes him the second most valuable goalkeeper in the world under the age of 21.
Kinský kept 12 clean sheets in 19 league games and made it into the Czech national team squad in the last four international matches. On Saturday he traveled to London and completed the medical check. “We are pleased to announce the signing of Antonin Kinsky, subject to international clearance and work authorization,” the Spurs wrote. The transfer fee makes him the Premier League’s most expensive signing so far this winter transfer window.
Czech Republic expert and TM user “Juanja” says about Tottenham’s arrival: “Kinský originally did not want to stay at Slavia last summer and was looking for another transfer, as he made it clear that he wanted to play every week and the crucial years of his career don’t want to spend it in the bank. However, Jindrich Stanek, who was the first choice goalkeeper upon his arrival in January 2024, was injured in the summer, and this unfortunate incident caused Kinský to change his mind, extend his contract with Slavia and move to a bigger club at 21 Demonstrate skills under pressure. He not only exudes calm and self-confidence, as if he were many years older, but is also very precise when building up play with both feet. He is still prone to making the occasional mistake, but his ability to remain calm and composed after a mistake is a quality that is particularly important for goalkeepers of all ages.” If bonus payments come through, Kinský will replace Tomas Soucek as Slavia’s most expensive sale. The midfielder moved to West Ham United in 2020 for €16.2 million.
He will probably be in goal for Tottenham in the EFL Cup semi-final against Liverpool on Wednesday. Regular goalkeeper Vicario will be out for at least another two months after an ankle operation, substitute Fraser Forster (36) was missing from the 1-2 win against Newcastle due to illness and so coach Ange Postecoglou had to rely on Brandon Austin (25). According to the coach, the homegrown player, who is inexperienced at the top level, played well, but Spurs currently need more quality between the posts. According to the well-connected football reporter David Ornstein, Kinský will not be signed as number two, but will fight for the role of starting goalkeeper after Vicario’s return.
