Toru de France, Stage 5: Clarke triumphs on the cobbles, Pogacar strong

Simon Clarke secured victory on Stage 5 of the Tour de France. Tadej Pogacar was a big beneficiary on the 154 km from Lille to Arenberg.

Simon Clarke got the win on the 5th stage of the Tour de France secured. On the 153.7 kilometers from Lille to Arenberg, which was extremely difficult due to the long cobblestone sections, he sprinted ahead of Taco van der Hoorn and Edvald Boasson Hagen. Wout van Aert, who, like many of his opponents, had to accept a fall, remains in the overall leader’s yellow jersey.

Pogacar distances opponents

Looking at the overall classification, last year’s winner Tadej Pogacar made a giant step: the Slovenian distanced his competitors for the tour victory by more than two minutes in some cases. Pogacar’s compatriot Primoz Roglic in particular fell back significantly and lost enormous ground in the fight for victory in Paris.

The sixth leg of the day on July 7 is 220 kilometers from Binche to Longwy.
