Topi Raitanen opened his obstacle season in Norway – “A snap to the better direction”

Reigning 3,000m steeplechase EC winner Top Raitanen opened its season on its main road trip on Saturday.

In the race held in Bergen, Norway, Raitanen ran a time of 8:24.77, with which he finished second in the race. The Spaniard took the win Victor Ruizwho beat Raitanen by just under 1.5 seconds.

Last season, Raitanen’s best time in the 3,000-meter hurdles was 8:19.34. The record is from 2020, when the time was 8:16.57 in Monaco.

– It was an okay bet, Snap in a better direction, but that run is not ready yet. At the end, I noticed that there was not the familiar change of rhythm that comes through the hardness created by the Games, Raitanen said in the Sports Federation’s press release.

In addition to Raitanen, several other Finns competed in Bergen, such as Nooralotta Neziri and Joonas Rinne.

Neziri won the 100m hurdles in 13.17, 13 hundredths off her best this season. Rinne, on the other hand, ran 800 meters with his new top time of the season, 1:47.99.
