Top star Heung-Min Son has been called up to South Korea’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar (November 20 to December 18) after his facial surgery.
When the former Bundesliga professional will be available to national coach Paulo Bento’s team is unclear. “We have to wait and analyze his situation day by day,” said Bento.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker underwent surgery after breaking his eye socket multiple times. “We are in contact with him and the medical department of Tottenham,” said Bento when presenting his squad: “The most important thing is that he recovers as much as possible, he is comfortable and then we will make the final decision. ” To be on the safe side, Bento called up 27 players, including Mainz’s Jae-Sung Lee and Freiburg’s Woo-Yeong Jeong.
The 2002 World Cup semi-finalists will start the tournament against Uruguay on November 24th. Other opponents in Group H are Ghana and Portugal.
