Noortje and Bregje de Brouwer (26) from Goirle stop at least temporarily with top sport. The synchronous swimming sisters that grabbed a bronze Olympic slab in Paris last year go on a journey through Asia and take the time to think about whether they want to continue with top sport. And if so, how they continue their career.
This summer, the twin sisters skip the European Synchron Swimming Championship in Portugal and the World Cup in Singapore. “After a successful season, followers may not have escaped that we have taken a small step back. A step back to give our body and mind time to recover from an intensive season full highlights, But also of challenges, “the sisters say in a statement.
In recent months, the life of the sisters was not dominated by 35 hours of training per week, but in stopping energy in writing their thesis and completing their bachelor.
“Of course we did not completely leave the swimming pool and the sport, but we have passed on our story behind the bronze Olympic medal to many people, entrepreneurs and future talents,” they write. In this way to inspire and motivate others to work hard for something: “We will continue this line in the remaining season.”
