After two of four competitions, Jan Hörl is in second place in the tour standings. He also owes this to a strong jump in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

In Oberstdorf, Jan Hörl came in second. Only compatriot Stefan Kraft ended up ahead of the Austrian ski jumper at the start of the Four Hills Tournament. In the second competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Hörl weakened in the first round and only ended up in ninth place with 134 meters. A disappointing result for the 26-year-old, who certainly has ambitions for the tour.

But in the second round Hörl did better and flew to 142.5 meters. An impressive distance, teammate Michael Hayböck set the hill record with 145 meters in the first round. Hörl therefore finished the competition in fifth place and remains second in the overall ranking. A result he can live with.

After the competition, Hörl said on the public TV broadcaster ORF: “The first jump shouldn’t happen to me, but it happened. You learn from mistakes. I took my balls into my hands again. I skied with heart in the second round jumped.”

Now we’re off to Innsbruck, where Hörl triumphed last year. “I know the jump well, we train there a lot. I won last year and I haven’t forgotten how to jump. It’s half time, everything is there,” explained the confident ski jumper.
