The realization that he has won has barely sunk in on Sunday for top talker Andy Marcelissen from Raamsdonksveer. He won the Keiebijters Chat Tournament in Helmond for the fifth time on Saturday. A day later he visits five carnival associations to appear on stage with his boyfriend. “I didn’t sleep a wink last night.”

While Marcelissen is preparing for his fifth birthday in Geldrop on Sunday, congratulations are flying around his ears. But the Chief Chatter Major has not really been able to enjoy the win himself yet. “I skipped the partying, I didn’t have time for that yet,” he says. “It is a tradition to celebrate the win the next day. But then I would have to disappoint five rooms of people today who expect me to come. I can’t do that.”

That’s why he doesn’t fully realize what he accomplished the night before. “It still has to land. I didn’t sleep a wink last night because of the adrenaline. This morning I had to go to Limburg early for three men’s sessions.” Marcelissen describes his day as if he is living on a pink cloud. “I’m tired, but I’m starting to realize it.”

“It is special that we have won the title so many times.”

The Grand Chatter Major won the tournament on Saturday with his buddy ‘De Wielrenner’. As Bram Fetamine, he took the audience into the world of cycling races and the inevitable doping. “I shed a tear yesterday,” he says. “This win already gives me extra energy. I immediately feel like writing new things,” says Marcelissen.

It was the fifth time that the top talker had won the tournament. With this he equals the record of Eddy Buys, who won the prize for the fifth time in 1976. “Very special,” Marcelissen calls it. “I would like to visit Eddy Buys soon. Just out of respect. It is special that we are the only two who have won the title so often.”

Whoever wins the Keiebijters Chat Tournament will receive the Silver Narrenhood. Because Marcelissen has won this challenge trophy five times, he can now keep it. He immediately picked a nice spot for it at home. “It sits on my desk, next to a photo of my children. Then I can look at both of them all day long.”
