Toni Kroos wants to end his career at Real Madrid

Madrid (AP) – Toni Kroos wants to end his football career at Real Madrid. “That’s my vision. And if that’s the club’s vision, that’s how it will be,” said the former Germany international in an interview broadcast by Spanish TV station RTVE.

In Madrid he was “very happy”. “Not just me, but also my family,” emphasized the 32-year-old central midfielder, whose current contract with the Spanish record champions runs for almost a year and a half until June 30, 2023. However, Kroos did not say when he wants to end his career.

Kroos switched from Bayern Munich to Madrid in 2014 after the World Cup triumph with the German team in Brazil for around 30 million euros. He won the Champions League three times with Los Blancos (2016, 2017 and 2018). Having previously triumphed in the top European competition with Bayern in 2013, he is the only German player to have won this title four times.

With Real, he could win the Champions League for the fifth time this season (against Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16), as well as the Primera División for the third time after 2017 and 2020. After 22 of 38 league rounds, Real are the leaders with 50 points, four points ahead of pursuers Sevilla. Champions Atlético Madrid are already 14 points behind, arch-rivals FC Barcelona are even 15 points behind, but both clubs have played a game less. However, the road to winning the title is still long, emphasized Kroos. “We will have to fight to the end.”
